Congratulations to BMP Partner, John Torbitzky for a victory in the Missouri Court of Appeals. As mentioned in Law360's Weekly Verdict- Legal Lions & Lambs: Behr, McCarter & Potter's, John Torbitzky, along with plaintiffs' firms Holland Law Firm LLC and The Lanier Law firm, successfully held onto a $2.1 billion verdict in a suit claiming Johnson & Johnson's talcum products caused nearly two dozen women's ovarian cancer. The original $4.7 billion verdict was trimmed by the appellate court. On August 5th, the court shot down a request by the company for rehearing in hopes of nixing the verdict completely. Johnson & Johnson recently sought transfer to the Supreme Court of Missouri.
